The Honorary Consulate of Ecuador in Belgium has been around for many years. It was opened by Ms. Karine Huts-Van den Heuvel as the first Honorary Consulate of Ecuador in Belgium.

After her voluntary resignation due to personal reasons, it was taken over by the current Honorary Consul, Mr. Yann Callaert.

The Honorary Consulate's main responsiblities include:

- Facilitate and develop trade, tourism and investments between Ecuador and Belgium, with a focus on the Flanders Region and the city of Antwerp in particular;

- Connect the Embassy of Ecuador in Brussels with local and national politicians, entrepreneurs and academics;

- Organise and host events for the promotion of Ecuador;

- Support the Ecuadorian community in Flanders and act as the main point of contact for the authorities in case of emergency.

The Honorary Consulate is only open by appointment.
